Sophia Bae is a thirteen-year-old pianist currently based in Seoul, where she is enrolled in Grade 7 at Korea International School and studies under Professor Eun Jung Lee.
Prior to relocating to Korea in late 2025, Sophia was a scholarship student in the Rising Stars program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and held a full music scholarship at Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney.
Sophia has performed as soloist on the Concert Hall stage of the Sydney Opera House on multiple occasions (2022, 2023, 2024). In November 2022, she was selected to represent the Sydney Conservatorium's Rising Stars program, performing Bach's Piano Concerto alongside the internationally acclaimed LGT Young Soloists. As a member of the Rising Stars program, she appeared regularly as a soloist at the Conservatorium's Saturday concert series, and was invited to perform a solo recital at NSW Arts Bundanoon as an emerging young musician.
She has placed first at the Paris International Music Festival (2024), the Colors of Chopin International Piano Competition — also receiving the Chopinist of the Season Award (2024), the Vienna International Piano Competition (2023), the Polish Online International Piano Competition (2022), and the New York Golden Classical Music Awards (2019). Most recently, she was awarded Grand Prix and First Place at the 2025 Aegio International Piano Competition, and First Place at the 2026 Classica Seoul Rising Star competition.
배예랑은 현재 서울에 거주하는 열세 살의 피아니스트로, Korea International School 7학년에 재학 중이며 이은정 교수님의 지도 아래 피아노를 공부하고 있습니다.
2025년 말 한국으로 이주하기 전, 배예랑은 Sydney Conservatorium of Music의 Rising Stars 프로그램 장학생으로 재학하였으며, Sydney Presbyterian Ladies' College에서 음악 전액 장학금을 받았습니다.
Sydney Opera House 콘서트홀 무대에서 여러 차례(2022, 2023, 2024) 독주자로 출연하였으며, 2022년 11월 Sydney Conservatorium of Music Rising Stars 대표로 선발되어 국제적으로 저명한 LGT Young Soloists와 함께 바흐 피아노 협주곡을 협연하였습니다. 2020년 Sydney Conservatorium Rising Star Program에 조인한 후 2025년까지 정기적으로 토요음악회에 솔로이스트로 무대를 즐겼고, 2024년 12월에는 NSW Arts Bundanoon에서 차세대 음악가로 초대받아 솔로 독주회를 하였습니다.
수상 경력으로는, 파리 국제 음악 페스티벌 (2024), 쇼팽 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 (Chopinist of the Season Award 수상) (2024), 비엔나 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 (2023), 폴란드 온라인 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 (2022), 뉴욕 골든 클래시컬 뮤직 어워즈 (2019)에서 1위를 차지하였습니다. 최근에는 2025년 에지오 국제 피아노 콩쿠르(Aegio International Piano Competition)에서 그랑프리 및 1위를, 2026년 클래시카 서울 라이징 스타(Classica Seoul Rising Star) 콩쿠르에서 1위를 수상하였습니다.
